When Are Thoughts and Prayers on Social Media OK?

There are moments thoughts and prayers seem beneficial. Social Media has become the new place many humans turn to for moral and emotional support. Some might say, Social Media replaced real relationships with family and friends. Before these pleading grounds, individuals used to call and talk to one another on less distracting corded phones. Frequent in-person visits were more the norm as well. Checking up on a loved one was as customary as breathing once upon a time. However, since society has become fully wireless, we’re more disconnected than ever.
Still, Social Media does have its usefulness, and society capitalizes on it as needed. People could never so easily meet strangers with similar interests or struggles. Simultaneously, family and friends grow further apart and become confined to their own worlds. So online contact with other like-minded individuals can be just what the doctor ordered. Especially during a personal crisis. A call for thoughts and prayers is now easily seen on glowing screens and newsfeeds all across the globe.
As tragedy strikes at untimely moments, it’s convenient to “reach out and touch someone” or get comfort from another for those seeking digital reassurance. Many folks realistically welcome thoughts and prayers into their lives during the most challenging times. Of course, nothing beats a human embrace and the presence of a familiar body in our darkest moments.
After all, the world is more crowded than it ever has been previously. And there’s no sign of it slowing. At the same time, many family and friends have spread apart, unlike at any other time in history. Significantly as transportation and communication technology reshape the landscape. So even for those who dislike thoughts and prayers. Who can argue against others who plea for help during their darkest moments?
